Guy Gets No Job Offers Until He Changes his Name From Jose' to Joe [#Racist?]

After Many Let Downs, Jose' Removes a Letter From His Resume and it Makes a HUGE Difference...

This is José Zamora, and like everyone else, he's been working to stay above the decreasing job market. Many in this position can relate to Jose's daily routine. Within his months-long job search, Jose' says that he'd send out nearly 50 - 100 resumes everyday.
Despite his persistence, Jose' still failed to get a response back from any of the job opportunities that he consistently applied for. Something just wasn't working...So Jose' dropped the "s" in his name. Within a week, Joe Zamora received a significant amount of responses from jobs with the same resume that Jose' Zamora used.
"Although digital job applications would seem to be the ultimate exercise in colorblind hiring, numerous studies and applicants have found the opposite. Employers consciously or subconsciously discriminate against names that sound black or Latino, as reported by the New York Times. One much-cited study found that applicants with white-sounding names received 50 percent more callbacks than applicants with black-sounding names, a significant disparity".
"I had to drop a letter to get a title," Zamora said,"Sometimes I don't even think people know or are conscious or aware that they're judging -- even if it's by name -- but I think we all do it all the time."
Many African Americans have learned that opting out of putting their race on their job applications  has made the same  difference. It's sad what you have to worry about and go through just to get a fair opportunity these days...
